And he went to Paddan-aram, to Laban, the son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob&#8217;s and Esau&#8217;s mother. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$6=1vn\">6 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$6=1vc\">Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to take a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he directed him, &#8220;You must not take a wife from the Canaanite women,&#8221; <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$7=1vn\">7 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$7=1vc\">and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and gone to Paddan-aram. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$8=1vn\">8 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$8=1vc\">So when Esau saw that the Canaanite women did not please Isaac his father, <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$9=1vn\">9 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$9=1vc\">Esau went to Ishmael and took as his wife, besides the wives he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael, Abraham&#8217;s son, the sister of Nebaioth. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$10=1vn\">10 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$10=1vc\">Jacob left Beersheba and went toward Haran. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$11=1vn\">11 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$11=1vc\">And he came to a certain place and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$12=1vn\">12 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$12=1vc\">And he dreamed, and behold, there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it! <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$13=1vn\">13 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$13=1vc\">And behold, the Lord stood above it and said, &#8220;I am the Lord, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac. The land on which you lie I will give to you and to your offspring. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$14=1vn\">14 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$14=1vc\">Your offspring shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south, and in you and your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$15=1vn\">15 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$15=1vc\">Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.&#8221; <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$16=1vn\">16 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$16=1vc\">Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, &#8220;Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it.&#8221; <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$17=1vn\">17 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$17=1vc\">And he was afraid and said, &#8220;How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.&#8221; <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$18=1vn\">18 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$18=1vc\">So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$19=1vn\">19 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$19=1vc\">He called the name of that place Bethel, but the name of the city was Luz at the first. <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$20=1vn\">20 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$20=1vc\">Then Jacob made a vow, saying, &#8220;If God will be with me and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear, <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$21=1vn\">21 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$21=1vc\">so that I come again to my father&#8217;s house in peace, then the Lord shall be my God, <\/span><span class=\"verseNumber\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$22=1vn\">22 <\/span><span class=\"verseContent\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$0.0.1.$22=1vc\">and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God&#8217;s house. And of all that you give me I will give a full tenth to you.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"type\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$1\">\n<div class=\"content text\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$1.0\">\n<div class=\"caption\" data-reactid=\".1zrjuqn5z40.0.2.$1.0.0\">\n<h4>Four Amazing Things about Grace<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Grace is an unmerited\/unearned gift.<\/li>\n<li>God\u2019s grace deals with sin and produces change.<\/li>\n<li>God\u2019s grace is patient and covers a multitude of misunderstanding.<\/li>\n<li>God\u2019s grace is THE source of a Christian\u2019s joy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>What Can We Learn?<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>God\u2019s grace, the sacrifice of his son Jesus, is offered to all people.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t listen to the enemy who claims you will never change.<\/li>\n<li>Trust in God\u2019s patience and work in you to make you a new creation.<\/li>\n<li>There is never a reason to feel joyless.
