Genesis 12:10-20 (ESV)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Altars<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Place of worship<\/li>\n<li>Draws man closer to God<\/li>\n<li>Recognizes God as the one true god<\/li>\n<li>Acknowledges God\u2019s generosity\/provision<\/li>\n<li>Serves as a point of refocus<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Did Abraham forget to build an altar?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Two events of lying and negative consequences.<\/li>\n<li>Two places Abraham didn\u2019t build an altar.<\/li>\n<li>Egypt and Garar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Why wasn&#8217;t Abraham reprimanded?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Scripture claims Abraham is the greatest example of faith.<\/li>\n<li>Could Abraham\u2019s intentions have been misguided but pure?<\/li>\n<li>Abraham was justified by faith and not by action. \u2013 Romans 4<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>What good is building altars?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The Christian\u2019s altar is found in daily worship habits (spiritual disciplines).<\/li>\n<li>These habits are not ritualistic works.<\/li>\n<li>These habits are the result of true belief.<\/li>\n<li>We do them because we love and desire to submit to God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>So What?<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Finite beings cannot live perfectly, but we can strive for perfect intentions.<\/li>\n<li>Remember, it is not works that save but faith that saves.<\/li>\n<li>The Christian needs to be devoted to daily worship habits in order to draw closer<\/li>\n<li>to God and be aligned with his will. \u2013 Romans 12:1-2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Basic Spiritual Disciplines<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Bible intake \u2013 Read, memorize and meditate on scripture.<\/li>\n<li>Pray \u2013 Regularly communicate with God.<\/li>\n<li>Submit \u2013 Do what God says.<\/li>\n<li>Rest \u2013 Take time to focus.<\/li>\n<li>Fellowship \u2013 Interact with believers.<\/li>\n<li>Serve \u2013 Do what is best and right for others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Genesis 12:10-20 Abram and Sarai in Egypt &#8211;
