{"id":362,"date":"2015-05-25T01:12:48","date_gmt":"2015-05-25T01:12:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/?p=362"},"modified":"2015-06-27T01:56:48","modified_gmt":"2015-06-27T01:56:48","slug":"genesis-participating-in-responding-to-gods-covenant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/genesis-participating-in-responding-to-gods-covenant\/","title":{"rendered":"Genesis &#8211; &#8220;Participating In &#038; Responding to God&#8217;s Covenant&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-362-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/may24-15.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/may24-15.mp3\">http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/may24-15.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Genesis 8:20 &#8211; 9:28<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Noah&#8217;s Response to God&#8217;s Provision &#8211; <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=genesis+8%3A20-22&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\">Genesis 8:20-22<\/a> (ESV)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>The New World &#8211; <\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biblegateway.com\/passage\/?search=genesis+9%3A1-28&amp;version=ESV\" target=\"_blank\">Genesis 9:1-28<\/a> (ESV)<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Noteworthy<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There are several parallels between the account of Noah and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Creation<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>There are parallels between Noah\u2019s altar and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Moses<\/strong><\/span>\u2019 altar.<\/li>\n<li>These parallels support the fact that Pentateuch is from <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>one<\/strong> <\/span>source and written for a specific <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>audience<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Covenants<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">More than agreements but the giving of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>oneself<\/strong> <\/span>to another.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Can be one or two-sided.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Can be conditional or unconditional.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Most of God\u2019s covenants are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>one-sided<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>unconditional<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Major Covenants in Scripture<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Edenic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Two-sided conditional. God promises blessings as long as man does not sin.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Adamic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 One-sided unconditional. God promises that the son of woman will crush the serpent&#8217;s head in the future (fulfilled by Jesus).<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Noahic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">One is two-sided conditional. God will save Noah and family through obedience.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">One is one-sided unconditional. God will never destroy life on earth again in the same manner he had just done so.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Abrahamic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Begins as a two-sided conditional but ends up a one-sided unconditional. God promises land, nation and blessing of the entire earth through Abraham\u2019s descendents.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Mosaic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 Two-sided conditional. Israel will continue to experience God\u2019s blessing through obedience.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Palestinian<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 One-sided unconditional. God will restore Israel to its land and promises an eventual change of heart.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Davidic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 One-sided unconditional. David will always have a descendent on his throne.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Solomic<\/strong> <\/span>\u2013 One-sided unconditional. Solomon\u2019s descendent Coniah will never have a descendent on the throne.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>New Covenant<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 One-sided unconditional. God promises salvation to Israel but clearly offered to all the earth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because of his <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>love<\/strong> <\/span>God is seen constantly initiated covenant with his creation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Proper response to participating in God&#8217;s covenant<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>John 3:16<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 God\u2019s unconditional covenant \u2013 the promise of salvation to all.<\/li>\n<li>Noah sets the example of the proper response \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>worship<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What is the worship God expects? &#8211; Romans 12:1-21<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cliving sacrifice\u201d \u2013 Our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>lived out<\/strong><\/span> lives!<\/li>\n<li>\u201cconform to this world\u201d \u2013 We are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>already<\/strong> <\/span>conformed!<\/li>\n<li>\u201cbe transformed\u201d \u2013 Become <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>unconformed<\/strong><\/span>!<\/li>\n<li>\u201ctesting you may discern\u2026\u201d \u2013 Put into <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>action<\/strong> <\/span>what you feel you have <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>learned<\/strong><\/span>!<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0\u201cLet love be genuine\u2026\u201d \u2013 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Spiritual act of worship<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>When we worship God <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>responds<\/strong><\/span>!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>So What?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Christians &#8211; respond to God\u2019s covenant through <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>life<\/strong><\/span>-worship of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>love<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\">Non-Christians &#8211; respond to God\u2019s unconditional covenant of salvation by <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>receiving<\/strong> <\/span>Jesus as Lord and Savior.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Genesis 8:20 &#8211; 9:28 Noah&#8217;s Response to God&#8217;s Provision &#8211; Genesis 8:20-22 (ESV) The New World &#8211; Genesis 9:1-28 (ESV) Noteworthy There are several parallels between the account of Noah and Creation.
