And it was so. And God called the expanse Heaven. And there was evening and there was morning, the second day. And God said, \u201cLet the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.\u201d And it was so. God called the dry land Earth, and the waters that were gathered together he called Seas. And God saw that it was good. And God said, \u201cLet the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind, on the earth.\u201d And it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed according to their own kinds, and trees bearing fruit in which is their seed, each according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the third day. And God said, \u201cLet there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth.\u201d And it was so. And God made the two great lights\u2014the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night\u2014and the stars. And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Purpose of creation account<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifies the Creator and sets him apart from all other gods.<\/li>\n<li>Explains the true origin of the world.<\/li>\n<li>Ties God\u2019s past work with his future work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Creation account notes<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em>Periods of creation \u2013 24 hour periods?<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 Yom can mean period of time, but most often translated as a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>24 hour day<\/strong><\/span>.<br \/>\n\u2022 Each period <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>concludes<\/strong><\/span> with \u201cand there was evening and morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSeparated the waters from waters\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 37.5 billion gallons of water in the atmosphere in the vapor phase.<br \/>\n\u2022 The entire planet depends on the hydrological cycle for life.<br \/>\n\u2022 Accurate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>knowledge<\/strong><\/span> before the advent of science.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cCalled [it] Earth\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 Can be translated <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">land<\/span><\/strong>.<br \/>\n\u2022 Conjures the promised blessing of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">land<\/span><\/strong> to Israel.<br \/>\n\u2022 Typology for the promised blessing of eternal rest in God\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n<p><em>Plants before sun?<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 A <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>24 hour creation period<\/strong><\/span> means plants could have survived without sun.<br \/>\n\u2022 Light existed <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>before<\/strong><\/span> plants.<br \/>\n\u2022 God\u2019s power to sustain light without a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>source<\/strong><\/span> can surely sustain plant life.<\/p>\n<p><em>The heavenly bodies<br \/>\n<\/em>\u2022 Created to be \u201cfor signs, seasons, and for days and years\u2026lights upon the earth.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 God has certainly used, and will use, heavenly bodies as <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>sign<\/strong><strong>s<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cfor signs\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 Sign of God\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>glory<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Psalm 19:1<br \/>\n\u2022 Sign of God\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>strength<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Psalm 68:34<br \/>\n\u2022 Sign of God\u2019s <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>covenant<\/strong><\/span> and blessing of the earth through Jesus \u2013 Genesis 22:17<br \/>\n\u2022 Sign of the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Day of the Lord<\/strong><\/span> \u2013 Joel 2<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cfor seasons\u201d<\/em><br \/>\n\u2022 \u201cSeasons\u201d can be translated \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>appointed times<\/strong><\/span>\u201d<br \/>\n\u2022 Brings the 7 Jewish Feast days to mind<br \/>\n\u2022 Feasts seem to be a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>map<\/strong><\/span> of God ordained events throughout time<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Nothing has been created without <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>purpose<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>The Creator has a master <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>plan<\/strong><\/span> for the creation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Application<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Take <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>courage<\/strong><\/span>!<\/li>\n<li>The Creator and Designer of the universe who created with purpose has created <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>you<\/strong><\/span> with purpose.<\/li>\n<li>Who can stand against us as we do His will?<\/li>\n<li>Be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>obedient<\/strong><\/span> and tell the world about Him!!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Creation &amp;
