And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, \u201cLet there be light,\u201d and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Purpose of creation account<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Identifies the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Creator<\/strong><\/span> and sets him apart from all other gods.<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Explains the true <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>origin<\/strong><\/span> of the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Ties God\u2019s past <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>work<\/strong><\/span> with his future <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>work<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><strong>Creation account notes &#8211; <\/span><\/strong><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">&#8220;And God blessed them&#8221;<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Blessing<\/strong><\/span> is a major theme in Genesis and throughout the Bible.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">After The Fall man continually <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>seeks<\/strong><\/span> God\u2019s initiated blessing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">This is a foreshadowing of the ultimate blessing found in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Jesus<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">What makes Jesus so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>unique<\/strong><\/span> to be able to bestow ultimate blessing on man?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Jesus and Creation\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><em>J<span style=\"color: #333333;\">ohn 1:1-18 (ESV)<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">He was in the beginning with God.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">In him was life, and the life was the light of men.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">He came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through him.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">He was not the light, but came to bear witness about the light.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">(John bore witness about him, and cried out, \u201cThis was he of whom I said, \u2018He who comes after me ranks before me, because he was before me.\u2019\u201d)<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father\u2019s side, he has made him known. The Testimony of John the Baptist.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Jesus and Creation in John 1<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">John uses the creation story from Genesis 1 as a model in revealing Jesus to be <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Creator God<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Only the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Creator<\/strong><\/span> is capable of giving life where there is none.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Colossians 1:15-20 (ESV)<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities\u2014all things were created through him and for him.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, <\/span><span style=\"color: #333333;\">and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Jesus and Creation in Colossians 1:15-20<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Jesus is the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>visible image<\/strong><\/span> of the Trinity<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"> \u201cFirstborn\u201d \u2013 Jesus is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>preeminent<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>ALL<\/strong><\/span> was created by, through, for and are held together by him<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Only the Creator is capable of giving <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>life<\/strong><\/span> where there is none<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Hebrews 1:1-14 (ESV)<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #333333;\"> having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">For to which of the angels did God ever say, \u201cYou are my Son, today I have begotten you\u201d? Or again, \u201cI will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son\u201d?<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, \u201cLet all God\u2019s angels worship him.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">Of the angels he says, \u201cHe makes his angels winds, and his ministers a flame of fire.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">But of the Son he says, \u201cYour throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom.<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">And, \u201cYou, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands;<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.\u201d<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">And to which of the angels has he ever said, \u201cSit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet\u201d?<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?<\/span><\/p>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Jesus and Creation in Hebrews<\/span> 1<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Exact imprint means he is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>God<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">All was created through him and belongs to him means he is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Creator<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">As Creator he holds the world together by the same <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>word<\/strong><\/span> that created it<\/span><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Only the Creator is capable of giving <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>life<\/strong><\/span> where there is none<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Revelation 1:17-18 (ESV)<\/span><\/em><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333333;\">When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, \u201cFear not, I am the first and the last,<\/span> <span style=\"color: #333333;\">and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Jesus and Creation in Revelation<\/span> 1<\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">\u201cThe first and the last\u201d means He is God eternal and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Creator<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">As Creator he was able to defeat <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>death<\/strong><\/span> and rule over it<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Only the Creator is capable of giving life where there is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>none<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Conclusion<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Jesus is Creator God that was introduced in Genesis and revealed to be the God of gods.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Only the Creator can bring life where there is none.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Only Jesus is uniquely qualified to offer and give salvation to man.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4 dir=\"ltr\"><strong><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Application<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">What assurance!<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">There is every reason to allow Jesus to be lord of our lives.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<li dir=\"ltr\"><em><span style=\"color: #333333;\">Respond to him with obedience and love for he has chosen to bless us more than we deserve.<\/span><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Creation &amp; Genesis Creation of Light &#8211; Genesis 1:1-5 (ESV) In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep.
