{"id":1385,"date":"2017-10-22T21:03:07","date_gmt":"2017-10-22T21:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/?p=1385"},"modified":"2017-11-12T19:37:05","modified_gmt":"2017-11-12T19:37:05","slug":"sermon-october-22-2017-mission-urgent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermon-october-22-2017-mission-urgent\/","title":{"rendered":"Sermon \u2013 October 22, 2017: \u201cMission Urgent!\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-1385-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/oct22-17.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/oct22-17.mp3\">http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/oct22-17.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>Luke 10:1-16<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parallel Account<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There is no parallel account though there are similar instructions given to the Twelve Apostles when they are sent out on a similar mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Luke\u2019s reason for recording<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>70\/72 is most likely an allusion to the number of nations listed in Genesis.<\/li>\n<li>Most likely used to highlight the universal nature of Jesus\u2019 salvation.<\/li>\n<li>Supports the idea that Jesus\u2019 earthly ministry was coming to an end and the Gospel message needed to be preached to as many as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Concerning the mission<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The potential for people\u2019s response is great and so the need for laborers is great as well.<\/li>\n<li>However, the mission will not be easy and there will be opposition.<\/li>\n<li>The mission is urgent!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s (Co)mission<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The potential is great.<\/li>\n<li>The danger is as real.<\/li>\n<li>The mission is as urgent!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What can keep us from the mission?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lack of companionship.\n<ul>\n<li>With God.<\/li>\n<li>With others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Lack of security (which is a lack of faith).\n<ul>\n<li>Fear of non-provision<\/li>\n<li>Fear of opposition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lack of Companionship<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lack of a companionship with God.\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus commanded prayer.<\/li>\n<li>Jesus promised that if we pray according to the will of God he will respond. (John 14:13-14; 1 John 5:14).<\/li>\n<li>We need to pray specific prayers.\n<ul>\n<li>Pray for your own involvement in evangelism and discipleship.<\/li>\n<li>Pray for the involvement of other servants in evangelism and discipleship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Lack of companionship with others.\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus commanded to work in pairs.<\/li>\n<li>Jesus expects us to work together. (Matthew 18:20)<\/li>\n<li>Many commands concerning how we should interact with and help each other.\n<ul>\n<li>Galatians 5:15<\/li>\n<li>Hebrews 10:24<\/li>\n<li>James 5:16<\/li>\n<li>1 Thessalonians 5:11<\/li>\n<li>Ephesians 4:16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Man needs man so that there is\u2026\n<ul>\n<li>encouragement in the face of discouragement.<\/li>\n<li>help and accountability to stay on task.<\/li>\n<li>less distraction from more temptation when working alone.<\/li>\n<li>complementation when the strength and gifts of one are not enough.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Lack of Security<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fear of non-provision.\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus implies that needs will be taken care during the mission.<\/li>\n<li>Jesus promises us our needs will be met when we make the mission priority. (Matthew 6:33)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Fear of opposition.\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus instructs to look for those who will accept the message.<\/li>\n<li>We are not expected to bring unnecessary hardship upon ourselves.<\/li>\n<li>If someone does not accept the message we move on and look for someone who will.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Transformation Expectation<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Jesus expects his servants to make the commission a priority.<\/li>\n<li>This involves sharing the good news and helping others grow in faith.<\/li>\n<li>Put aside the fears and trust in God to give what is required to do the mission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Luke 10:1-16 Parallel Account There is no parallel account though there are similar instructions given to the Twelve Apostles when they are sent out on a similar mission.
