accounts<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Matthew 9:18-26<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Mark 5:21-43<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Luke 8:40-56<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><i>Harmonizing the accounts<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Mark and Luke place the event directly after the expelling of the demon horde Legion.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Event most likely takes place in Capernaum.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Matthew simply says \u201ca ruler,\u201d but both Mark and Luke say ruler of the synagogue and give his name as Jairus.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Matthew has Jairus saying his daughter had already died whereas Mark and Luke record him saying she was sick.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 This is reconciled by understanding\u2026<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Matthew likes to abbreviate and condense details of events.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 It was acceptable to not accurately detail events as long as the main point was accurately relayed (i.e. the daughter died and was brought back to life).<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><i>Luke\u2019s reason for recording<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\u2022 This \u201cday\u201d in the life of Jesus reveals that (Luke 8:4-9:56)\u2026<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 He has authority over nature.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 He has authority over demons.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 He has authority over sickness.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 He has authority over death.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 He has the same authority as God!<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Further\u2026this event serves as a lesson concerning faith and fear.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><i>What we learn about faith and fear<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Fear can stifle faith.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Or faith can eliminate fear.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 To walk in fear means to miss God\u2019s blessings for his blessings are usually gained by faith.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 It is essential to share stories of faith and blessing with others.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 We are encouraged when we share.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Fellow believers are encouraged when we share.<\/div>\n<div>\u2013 Non-Christians are encouraged when we share.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><i>The Transformation Expectation<\/i><\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Think about it: Are you allowing fear to stifle your faith?<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Confess your weakness and pray for determination to walk by faith instead of in fear.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Experience the many blessings God has promised to be
