{"id":1026,"date":"2016-10-02T13:46:04","date_gmt":"2016-10-02T13:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/?p=1026"},"modified":"2016-10-09T16:14:58","modified_gmt":"2016-10-09T16:14:58","slug":"sermon-october-2-2016-a-proper-response","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermon-october-2-2016-a-proper-response\/","title":{"rendered":"Sermon \u2013 October 2, 2016: \u201cA Proper Response\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<audio class=\"wp-audio-shortcode\" id=\"audio-1026-1\" preload=\"none\" style=\"width: 100%;\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"audio\/mpeg\" src=\"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/oct2-16.mp3?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/oct2-16.mp3\">http:\/\/kcc.life\/life\/sermons\/oct2-16.mp3<\/a><\/audio>\n<p>A Proper Response<br \/>\nLuke 1:26-38<\/p>\n<p>The reason for the narrative<br \/>\n\u2022 Every part of God\u2019s plan comes to pass.<br \/>\n\u2022 Some parts of the plan were revealed through prophecy.<br \/>\n\u2022 The story of Jesus begins with prophecy being fulfilled (John the Baptizer).<br \/>\n\u2022 The beginning of the Advent begins with a miracle.<br \/>\n\u2022 The story of Jesus is attested through both fulfillment of prophecy and miracle.<\/p>\n<p>Questions Answered<br \/>\n\u2022 Why the name \u201cJohn?\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013 Ioannes means \u201cYahweh is gracious.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013 John would carry the message to the Jewish people that the \u201cKingdom of heaven is near at hand.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013 Through John, God allowed the Jewish people to prepare themselves for the coming ministry of Jesus.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Why a virgin betrothed and not just a virgin?<br \/>\n\u2013 Betrothal actually saves Mary\u2019s life.<br \/>\n\u2013 Jesus gets to be raised with both mother and father in a traditional Jewish manner.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Why the name \u201cJesus?\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013 Yeshua (Hebrew) means \u201che will save.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013 The name itself is a clear indicator of the purpose of the incarnation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Why the overshadowing of the Holy Spirit?<br \/>\n\u2013 Mary is a virgin and prophecy says a virgin will give birth.<br \/>\n\u2013 It is a miracle.
