Sermon – June 3, 2018: “The Kingdom Requires a Humble Heart”

Luke 18:9-17
Concerning Legalism

• Legalism provides a false sense of security based upon adherence to rules.
• Legalism can be identified by the disdain produced for others who don’t follow the rules.
• Christian legalism is an insecurity and even disbelief in the sufficiency of what Jesus taught and did.
Concerning Humility
• God requires humility and faith more than works.
• God looks more at the heart than at a person’s actions.
• God knows a humble heart produces good works.
• God has released us from having to do in order to get.
Transformation Expectation
• God expects us to humble ourselves and submit to him.
• When we submit to him he enables us to break habitual sin habits.
• When we submit to him he enables us to live holy and righteous lives.
• When we submit to him he uses us in building his kingdom.
