Sermon – June 24, 2018: “Cry, Believe, Be Healed, Follow, Glorify”

Cry, Believe, Be Healed, Follow, Glorify

Luke 18:35-43

  • It was/is believed that the Messiah would be a descendant of David.
  • Even though it angered the Pharisees, they could not object to the title “Son of David” used by blind Bartimaeus.
  • During Jesus’ life there seems to be no refutation of his claim to Messiah based on a genealogical argument.
  • This is but another evidence that Jesus is who he is claimed to be.

Transformation Expectation

  • God expects us to continue to believe and follow Jesus because the evidence to do so is more than enough.
  • The temptation is to forget that we are now living in view of eternal life.
  • Resist the temptation to give present temporal living the priority over eternal living.
  • When we live with our eternal life in view we will live in the here and now making God look good.
  • It should be our desire to see as many people be reconciled to God as possible.
