The Noteworthy
- Sons of God?
- Nephilim?
- “My Spirit shall not abide in man forever?” (Eph. 1:14)
- 120 days?
Verses 5-8
- 5 – Man had come to a point of complete selfishness. (Matt 24:37)
- 6 – Even though God has foreknowledge it doesn’t stop him from feeling in the present.
- 7 – There is consequence to sin. Period!
- 8 – Through Noah mankind received a new start.
Punishment: Hell
- Chapter 5 gave the hope of eternal life.
- Chapter 6 gives the reality of punishment for sin.
- Up to the point of Jesus’ sacrifice Sheol/Hades was the “end” destination.
- Now heaven or hell is the end.
- Jesus clearly teaches hell is real (Matt 13:41-50 & Mark 9:43-49)
- He made it known hell is eternal (Mark 9:43)
- He reveled it is the place prepared for the enemy (Matthew 25:41)
- Only God has the power to condemn to hell (Matt 10:28)
So What?
- Left on our own mankind can only degenerate and the punishment of death is in inevitable.
- Every human being is in need of a savior!
- Salvation is not just about the future, but it is about the present as well.
- Those of us who believe need to live like we believe!
- Those of us who don’t believe need to examine the possibilities of consequences for unbelief.
