  • Chapter 4 implores _____________ and _____________ to one another.
  • In 5:22-33 Paul begins with the basic social unity of society – _____________ .

Wives

  • _____________to and _____________ the husband.
  • Why?  The marriage reflects Jesus’ _____________ with the Church.
  • How?  As any person _____________ to Jesus.
  • Why submit to Jesus? – His intention is to do what is _____________ and _____________ for all of us.
  • How do we submit to Jesus? – We _____________ his commands and _____________ his lead.

Husbands

  • Love the wife as Jesus _____________ the church.
  • Husbands should create a _____________ by providing what is best and right for the wives and family.
  • Doing what is best and right is _____________ the way Jesus loves.

The problem

  • _____________…  Husbands are tempted to make other things more important than a family’s security.
  • This results in a wife’s feeling ” _____________ ” and _____________ .
  • Insecurity leads to a wife trying to take _____________ to procure a secure environment.
  • Husband eventually _____________ any attempt causing his wife to develop a _____________ attitude towards him.
  • This results in a never ending _____________ of unloving and disrespectful words and actions (a “crazy cycle”).

The solution

  • We have to be _____________ and _____________ .
  • Whether you feel disrespected or unloved you must _____________ to Jesus and be _____________: “Love one another as I love you.”
  • _____________should always strive to develop a safe and secure environment by providing what is best and right for the family.
  • _____________ should always strive to help their husbands lead by submitting and supporting to final decisions.
  • Husbands don’t _____________ your wives responsibility to help by not creating a safe and secure environment.
  • Wives don’t _____________ your husband by criticizing and not respecting.

Society in General

  • The _____________ relationship is the most basic social unit.
  • From this basic unit we can extrapolate general principles concerning gender roles in _____________ .
  • _____________, in general, should do their best to create a safe environment for women and children by always trying to do what is best and right for them. (Matt. 5:28 & 1 Tim. 5:2)
  • _____________, in general, should do all they can to help men be successful leaders.

This is really the beginning of a conversation (men with men, women with women, and men with women).  How does a man determine what is best and right, and how does he make it happen?  How does a women support and help a man be a good leader?

We need to take God’s creative order seriously.  Everything we do is a testimony concerning God.  We can try hard to mirror a correct image of God and present something to which people will be drawn, or we can present a distorted image which will repulse them.

What will you do?
